All Fired Up!

We had to wait a full month for the stone skin to completely cure before we could fire the masonry wood stove to capacity. Once the house is finished this mass should heat the entire house. It was worth the wait and the tea was lovely as usual.

I'd rather be golfing!

As promised we found the stove very easy to start with the aid of efficient flues in the front and on the side in the chimney. This year at least we have plenty of kindling and fire wood. The oven at the top will be put to good use.

Chief wood splitter.

Oven put to test with organic Mole steaks. Delicious!!

We also fitted some of the exterior doors. Kirk made all of the door jams and custom designed the door thresholds.
Entry door to mud room. Knotty alder with clear varnish stain. Another great Craig's List purchase.

Half light door at top of stairs leading to outdoor patio. Also Craig's List

Continuing the Craigs List theme we found wood framed French doors. Image shows fitted doors in living room leading to covered patio.

....and getting warmer yet.
Insulation was contracted out to Insul 8 of Eugene. Good job and the company very easy to work with. www.freeinsulation.com
